Most of my work, in one way or another, explores transition and change as a process. How does the process of change, time passing, and transition shape and effect us? How does or doesn’t it become tangible as its happening? For the most part, I have always done this in the abstract; Individual, group, and physical change as one. All these pieces, very obviously, deal directly with perception and changes in perception, as well as with memory. Through this current project I’m attempting to take these abstractions and immerse myself in them more directly. I’m removing the safety of artistic filtration and shoving myself out there.

As a doctoral student, artist, and broke twentysomething, life tends to reach volatility on a regular basis. So what better way to explore transition, perception, and memory than examining myself over time. The project is made up of several components including this blog, daily photos, and a re visitation of the aforementioned components to take place at the end of the project. it may seem under-intellectualized, too loosely conceptual, and lacking technique. I would say that that is the point. In both Academia and Art these are what I find easiest to hide behind. So in that way, I’m pushing my own limits. We’ll see how it turns out.
